Special Prosecutor nominee, Martin Amidu, says he is the right person for the Special Prosecutor job.
According to him, President Akufo-Addo has chosen the right candidate for the office of the Special Prosecutor because he’s an anti-corruption crusader par excellence.
According to the former Attorney-General (A-G), there is no better choice than him as far as the fight against corruption is concerned.

“If you want anybody who’ll be meticulous in investigations, the President has made the best choice for you.
Answering questions on how he intends to fight corruption in the country at his vetting on Tuesday, Mr. Amidu said he intends to establish a “strong institution” and employ independent investigators to be able to succeed.
Mr. Amidu told the committee that whether he is approved or not, he would “continue to fight [corruption] for this country”.

“If you want someone who’ll look the other way [from corrupt acts] you can disapprove my nomination” he told the Committee.
He maintained that corruption has, in time past, caused the stabilization of the country, and recalled instances under the PNDC era where people were executed by firing squad for corruption.
“It’s important that this country is stabilized to make sure that no one gets the excuse to stage a coup. This can be done when we protect the national purse,” Mr. Amidu said.
