If you thought the introduction of Free Senior High School (SHS) has ended the era when people got admission but are unable to go to school for financial reasons then, please, revise your notes.

A 46-year-old woman is soliciting for funds for a trunk and chop-box as well as  provisions to enable her son go to boarding school.

Mama Esther traveled from Mim in the Brong Ahafo Region to the Ashanti Regional capital, Kumasi on a mission to raise money from philanthropic citizens.

Her son was placed and admitted to at the Sunyani Senior High School to enjoy Free Senior High School but she says money to buy essential items on the prospectus has become a challenge.

Speaking to Nhyira News’ Nana Awuku Denkyemuo, Mama Esther said her husband is jobless thus has taken over the responsibility of caring for the her son.

Applauding the Akufo-Addo government for the free SHS policy, she also appealed to philanthropists to come to her aid.

The policy was officially launched by the president, Akufo-Addo Tuesday September 12, 2017.

The rollout of the policy was plagued with acute challenges which the government through the Minister of State in charge of Education, Professor Kwesi Yankah said was anticipated.

The Minority in Parliament led by Haruna Iddrisu raised concerns about the sustainability of the policy it described as noble.

He warned that at a presser that the “piecemeal approach” to the execution of the policy will compromise on quality.
