Chairman of the 2018 Star Times Gala Organising Committee, Mr. Kurt Okraku says the GHALCA Star Times Gala tournament is invitational and not optional for teams wishing to participate.
Kurt was reacting to some reports making round in the media that the tournament was optional for teams in the Premier and Division One League.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show, he explained that his committee wrote to extend invitation to the clubs and the sixteen teams who will be participating in the tournament responded accordingly.
“We wrote to the Premier and Divisional One clubs to invite them to participate in the GALA and the interested ones are those that responded and will participate”, Mr. Okraku said.
Throwing more light on the competition, the football administrator confirmed that all participating clubs will receive $25,000 as appearance fee.

So far, eleven premier league and five division one clubs have confirmed and will be participating in the competition which starts from Saturday 3 – Sunday February 4, 2018 at the Nduom Stadium in Elmina.
