Officials at the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) have advised students to abide by school selection guidelines.
The CSSPS is warning students who will be making school choices to be mindful of computer codes before choosing their preferred schools.

National coordinator for CSSPS, Mark Sasu-Mensah, who made this known on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, Tuesday said the computerized placement system recognizes codes and not the programme or names of schools.
“We are aware of challenges students face anytime they are selecting schools. This is the time to alert them on how to go through the selection system without hindrances. They must first abide by guidelines. We want the students to understand that the computer does not recognize school or programmes. What the computerized system feeds on is the code and we have made provision for all schools to serve as a guide. The code of the school is 7 digits,” he said.

Basic Education Certificate Examination candidates are required to choose five schools and programmes as well as a residential accommodation.
He noted that regardless of the school one chooses, schools should be arranged in order of preferences, adding schools must be recognized and approved by WAEC.

Candidates to be placed under the program this year would be the second batch of beneficiaries to the Free SHS Programme which implementation began in the 2017-2018 academic year.
About 400,000 students have already benefited from the programme.
