A member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has sounded a note of caution to government appointees whose sole aim is to amass wealth following the appointment of Martin Amidu as Special Prosecutor.
According to Hon. Kwaku Balado Manu, the former Attorney General will not have mercy on anyone especially members of the NPP should they be found culpable of engaging in corrupt acts.
“You see how NDC is panicking because of Martin Amidu who is their party member so just image what he will do to an NPP person so appointees must be careful” he added.
The appointment of Martin Amidu as Special Prosecutor by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Thursday, January 11, 2018 many believe has sent shivers down the spine of corrupt persons especially in the erstwhile Mahama administration.
Among them is embattled businessman, Alfred Agbesi Woyome who has been asked to refund monies illegally paid to him as judgement debt.
As the officer in charge of ensuring accountability, many are convinced Martin Amidu will make the Woyomegate scandal his first case to put the matters to rest.
But on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Friday, Hon. Balado Manu said the appointment of Martin Amidu should be enough for government appointees not to dabble in acts of corruption.
Rather, he noted that, persons who want to dip their hands into the public purse should go to the private sector because President Akufo-Addo has vowed to jealously guard public funds.
Hon. Balado Manu who a former Member of Parliament for Ahafo Ano South stressed that no party member will support any official in court should he or she be accused of corruption.
