Management of B5 Plus Limited, a manufacturer, importer and exporter of steel has reacted to claims that it has evaded tax.

The company, according to a report by the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has kept its imported products in bonded warehouses and subsequently evaded tax payments.

But reacting to the issue on Adom FM’s anti-corruption show Fabewoso Monday, the Chief Executive Officer of B5 Plus Company Limited, Kwaku Baffour Sarpong, expressed shock at the report.

He said they were the second highest payers of tax so far as the records at the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) are concerned.

“The money we are said to be owing is peanuts; we are a very big multinational company and will never evade taxes,” he said.

Mr Baffour Sarpong said his company has been wrongly accused of evading tax because, by the nature of the business, some goods moved faster than others, making it possible for some goods imported this year to be cleared while others imported last year or last two years remain in the warehouse.
