The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Cassandra Twum-Ampofo has explained the reasons behind the dismissal of some 11 teachers in the public sector.
The eleven teachers were involved in sexual misconduct with students of their schools and others for stealing.

The GES has described the conducts of the teachers as unpardonable and breach of the rules and regulations governing the teaching profession.
Madam Twum-Ampofo who was speaking in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen Friday stated that every teacher was aware of the professions’ code of ethics, adding that the punishment wouldn’t come as shock to even the culprits.
She is of the view that the teachers and headmasters have disgraced the teaching profession and needed to be given the right punishment.

She added that stealing and sexual misconducts are maximum offences which require maximum punishment which is “outright dismissal”.
Six of the teachers were found guilty of sexual misconduct, while four others were found guilty of stealing and one other, found guilty of defilement by an investigative committee set up by the Education Service and convicted by a court.
