Comedian Kojo Anim was shocked he got the golden buzzer

A Ghanaian Comedian by name Kojo Anim became an internet sensation after he got the ‘Golden Buzzer’ by Simon Cowell, propelling him into the semi-finals of Britain’s Got Talent show 2019 after he gave an impressive performance with his comedy.

Mr Anim made Simon Cowell laugh so much to his jokes that he reached for the ‘Golden Buzzer’.

Mr Cowell was not the only one who was thrilled with Mr Anim’s jokes, the other judges and the audience also loved his performance.

Mr Anim, who is a stand-up comedian, made some very funny jokes about family, finances and the transport situation in Britain (The Black Cab) and got a standing ovation after his act.

However, many people do not know who Mr Anim is. Thanks to our researchers, below are some facts about Mr Anim; the comedian protege.

He was born on 21st January 1977 in Ghana but moved with his parents to London at an early age. He is not just a comedian, but he is also an actor, a screenplay writer and a filmmaker.

Mr Anim has fast become one of the funniest talents to come out of the United Kingdom comedy circuit in the last 10 years.

As the oldest of five siblings, Mr Anim grew up in foster care in the borough of Hackney in East London from the age of five. While his first love was always football, he started using his humour to make people laugh in his local team. Mr Anim has since opened up for Chris Rock, Kevin Hart at Wembley Arena and Dave Chappelle at the Royal Albert Hall.

In 2018, he became a father for the first time to his son Roman-Kingsley and is now penning a new one-hour show all about fatherhood.

He also owns a company called The Colour Network, a black lifestyle and entertainment network that provides a platform to showcase positive stories about diverse groups. He established the company in 2016.

He has performed with popular comedians like Chris Rock. He opened for Kevin Hart at the Wembley Arena in 2014 and also toured with Dave Chappelle in 2015.

In 2005, he was recruited by CBBC where he presented The Mighty Truck of Stuff alongside Reggie Yates.

The comedian has appeared on Nick Cannon’s Wild’N Out on MTV in America.

He was also a hit with MTV Base in the United Kingdom with The Fresh Prince Of Hackney, The Young Gods Of Comedy and two series of his own show, Kojo’s Comedy Funhouse.

Kojo also featured on the panel for the live BBC3 debate show Free Speech where he discussed issues such as the unemployment rate for black men and drugs legalization.

He made his acting debut in Noel Clarke’s romantic comedy The Knot in 2011. He also starred in the urban comedy movie ‘It’s A Lot.’

Mr Anim presented the Breakfast Show on United Kingdom radio station Capital Xtra form 2010-2014.
