Greater Accra Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Theophilus  Tetteh Chaie has disclosed why Ghanaian actor, John Dumelo pulled out of the NDC Ayawaso West Wuogon parliamentary primaries.

Mr Dumelo was part of 8 persons who expressed interest to contest the by-election for the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency in January 2019.

Speaking on Adom FM’s Morning Show Dwaso Nsem, Friday, Mr. Tetteh Chaie stated Mr Dumelo was not a registered voter in the constituency and that could not allow him to contest.

“John Dumelo’s constituency is Hohoe and so he came for his nomination with the hope that his vote would be transferred to the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency but couldn’t happen and so he had no choice than to forget submitting his forms.”

Mr Tetteh Chaie’s statement emphasizes an assertion made earlier by a Deputy National Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mame Yaa Aboagye,  that Mr Dumelo cannot contest the Ayawaso West Wuogon seat in the Greater Accra Region because he is not a registered voter in the constituency.

Even though Mr Dumelo picked the nomination forms but he failed to file it, he is yet to publicly indicate his reason from withdrawing from the race.

Mr. Tetteh Chaie however noted that out of the total eight people who picked the nomination forms, only three returned the forms.
