Health officials at the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital in the Central Region have been accused of negligence and dereliction of duty leading to the death of a 42-year-old man.

Wife of the deceased, Monica Sackey, narrating the incident on Adom FM’s morning show “Dwaso Nsem” Monday said, her husband who was suffering from jaundice was taken to the facility for medical care but was abandoned for four days.

According to Mrs. Sackey, her husband would have survived, had the nurses on duty at the time been a little bit professional in their approach to work and attended to him on time.

Mrs. Sackey noted that the nurses on duty claimed that, there was no doctor around to look after the patient and therefore left him unattended to for 4 days whilst he continued to suffer.

But the doctor, she revealed arrived four days but the Mr Sackey later died at the point when the doctor came to see him.

“My husband’s sickness was very bad so we took him to the hospital only for the nurses to tell us that there is no doctor. They only put him on a drip after abandoning him for 4 days,

“But the doctor came 4 days after he was left unattended to only for him to pronounce him dead after asking me to go out for a while.

She continued that “I asked why they treated him that way but they didn’t have anything to tell me. I was very angry because they killed my husband” she said.

The mother of five said, though the husband has been buried, she is unable to cater for the children and is still leaving in misery.
