Managing Editor of the New Crusading Guide newspaper Abdul Malik Kweku Baako is challenging former President Jerry John Rawlings to a book writing contest.

He wants the ex-flight lieutenant who became head of state through a coup d’état to follow his wife’s footprint to write a book on his political career.

“Mr Rawlings hasn’t written and so he should write about his political life for us to know the truth or falsehood in his life,” he stated.

The challenge comes as Mrs Agyemang-Rawlings successfully launched her maiden book.

“It takes a Woman”, launched on Monday, 26 November 2018 talks about her political journey as a first lady, her advocacy for women empowerment and founding of the National Democratic Party (NDP).

Mr. Rawlings at the launch said, “I hope this first book of hers carries enough essentials even as we wait for mine and the additional two she intends to write.”

But the veteran journalist said on Accra based Metro TV and monitored by Adomonline.com said looking back into Ghana’s history and the role Mr. Rawlings played, it would suitable if he writes a book chronicling his life journey till now.

Mr. Baako however lauded Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings’ for the step taken.

“I think she is the only former first lady who has come out with such initiative. She deserves praise for that and that we need to congratulate her. I’m very happy. But you can only review and critique the book if you have read and I haven’t read the book and so I can’t critique it but she has done really well,” he stated.
